Thread Lift

“During the consultation with my patients, I determine the number and placement of the threads, which depends on the patient’s skin laxity and condition. I mark out the treatment areas, then administer a local anesthetic,” explains Dr. Hillard Warm, board-certified plastic surgeon from Cosmetic Surgery of NY.

“Patients will see an immediate lifting action as soon as the threads are inserted underneath the skin. Once the thread is in place, I apply slight pressure to the area to lift and smooth the skin’s surface. Thread Lifts can be used to treat various areas like the jawline, cheeks, mid-face area, eyebrows and neck,” adds Dr. Warm.

Silhouette threads dissolve in about 12 to18 months after treatment, and its effects are maintained for another 6 to 12 months, depending on factors like lifestyle and genetics. Novathread results do not last as long.

Like filler, each procedure is not permanent and will need to be repeated, but the lifting and tightening effect without surgery is of major interest to many who are looking for a less invasive alternative to a facelift.

“This procedure will not replace a surgical facelift, but it’s a great alternative for patients who aren’t quite ready for surgery,” says Dr. Warm.

After the procedure, a patient may experience soreness for a few days, along with mild bruising that is easily covered with makeup.

To ensure the best possible lift, patients should avoid any dental surgery for three weeks. It is also recommended to avoid excessive facial movements and to sleep on your back for one week after the Thread Lift.

At Cosmetic Surgery of NY, we will continue to keep you informed of the latest technology and procedures, like Thread Lifts, to keep you looking your best.

We've all done it...

We stare at the mirror and hold our skin back with our fingers to see what we would look like without sagging skin and a double chin.

While technology has made tremendous advancements in cosmetic surgery treatments, the missing treatment was a non-surgical solution for lifting the deeper layers of skin. While skin tightening treatments like Thermage firm and tighten the skin, some of our patients wanted something more to give them a lift, plus re-contour their face and neck area.

At the Long Island Beauty Center, Cosmetic Surgery of NY is now offering two new treatments to address this concern: Silhouette Instalift (Silhouette) and Novathread. Both procedures are safe and effective with very little downtime and is perfect for those who want to achieve immediate lifting of the face, without surgery. Both achieve excellent results for men and women between the ages of 35 and 70.

Threadlifts literally lift the skin back to its original position, giving a true age-reversing effect. While fillers are used to plump up the skin, in some instances patients need a lift without the added volume from fillers. Plus, one thread treatment immediately lifts sagging skin and  keeps on working long past the initial treatment, with a double-action effect that restores smoother and more toned skin over time.

How doesit work?

“The newer technology and the fact that the treatment can be performed in under an hour are two big reasons why Thread Lifts are very popular as a facelift alternative at Cosmetic Surgery of NY,” says Dr. Robert Jacobs, board-certified plastic surgeon.

“The gradual regenerating effect of the Thread Lift includes increased collagen production over the course of a few months, which helps to gradually restore depleted facial volume lost with age. The result is a firmer, plumper and more youthful looking face. It also delivers superior and immediate results on the neck,” he adds.

Silhouette is FDA approved, and is made from Polyglycolide/L-lactide (PLGA), a well-known polymer that has been used as an absorbable suture in surgery and is the same synthetic lactic acid used in Sculptra®, an injectable filler that promotes collagen growth.

Novathreads are composed of polydioxanone. PDO sutures are one of the safest materials to be implanted in the body and are absorbed within 4 to 6 months.

While each treatment is considered minimally invasive, it’s important to use a board-certified plastic surgeon, as proper placement of the threads is vital to the success of the treatment. In the hands of an inexperienced doctor, it is possible to get prolonged skin dimpling and visible knots through the skin.
