Liposuction
We take pride in providing patients with our wealth of experience and specialized skills in liposuction, a highly sought-after cosmetic procedure in the United States. Liposuction effectively reshapes the body by eliminating stubborn fat deposits that have proven resistant to traditional methods such as diet and exercise. This procedure targets areas like the abdomen, waist, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks, and neck. Beyond just slimming and sculpting, liposuction removes fat cells, reducing the likelihood of future fat accumulation in treated areas.

Techniques
The liposuction procedure begins with appropriate anesthesia. Then a solution composed of saline (salt water), a local anesthetic called lidocaine, and a small amount of adrenaline to decrease bruising and bleeding is injected. This is known as either the tumescent or super-wet technique, depending on the ratio of fluid to fatty tissue being removed.
Once this solution has been introduced into the area planned for liposuction treatment, the doctor proceeds with one of several different methods of liposuction currently approved by plastic surgeons: SmartLipo, suction-assisted liposuction (SAL), power assisted liposuction, or ultrasonic-assisted liposuction (UAL).

In any of the methods, a tiny incision is made in an inconspicuous place. A cannula (small tube) is inserted to suction out the fat. For SmartLipo, a laser is used to remove additional fat and help tighten the skin. In UAL, ultrasonic energy is used to liquefy the fat before it is suctioned out with a cannula.

The liposuction procedure may take about one hour, depending on the amount of fat being removed. The doctor will use either local anesthesia or general anesthesia, again depending on the size of the area(s) being treated as well as several other factors, including your preference. We will discuss which method is best for you during your pre-operative complimentary consultation.

Recovery
After liposuction surgery, a compression garment is used to decrease swelling and facilitate the healing process. Patients can walk the same day, and many return to work within a few days.
Results
Results are visible immediately, and improvement often continues as swelling subsides during the first three months. The scars are small and inconspicuous.
Risks
Risks are uncommon when liposuction is performed by a qualified surgeon.
